Are you a Rock Star? Even in Crisis?

Posted in Lead Generation by

I follow Aly and Andrea’s blog from Rock Star U who are on a mission to touch a gazillion lives and make a difference in each definition of personal success.

Today I read their latest post “5 Most Critical Steps to Beating Adversity, Obstacles, and Other Major Crisis in Your Life” and got inspired to write this blog post. I believe it is such an important topic to discuss as everyone relates to this both personally and professionally in their lives.

Rock Star in Crisis

Be a Rock Star (even in crisis)

In continuation to the 5 most critical steps as laid out by Aly and Andrea, I want to include 10 more quick and simple steps (general beliefs) that could help us go through any crisis situations seamlessly.

  1. Stay focused: Take the emotion out of the situation to analyze the situation right, and handle it prudently.
  2. Be persistent: Not necessarily we can fix everything in one go. We have to keep the optimism high and keep trying to solve it in various methods to finally accomplish our goal and come out of the storm with flying colors.
  3. Break it down: No crisis is big enough if broken down into manageable chunks and handled in steps, pieces and milestones.
  4. Trust partners: Sometimes it takes more than you and your abilities to pull you out of the crisis. Believe in your partnerships. Remember, none of us is as smart as all of us.
  5. Start from bottom: To rise to the top of a situation, you need to go to the bottom of it first.
  6. Plan and execute (on time): Don’t just keep on planning and planning and not executing it. Ever heard of the saying “Paralysis by Analysis”? Jump in before circumstances change and your plan to solve the problem gets stale.
  7. Be honest and truthful: It is very common to vacillate and lose ground when we are right in the situation. Mostly because of the fear of failure. That leads to falsifying statements and lies. I always remember my dad saying “Truth sets us free! The lie gets too heavy with time and leads to more lies”. Don’t say or do anything that you would repent after the predicament has ended.
  8. Prevention is better: Make every choice or statement wisely, for there’s no U-Turn (or a rewind button like in our DVR) in life.
  9. Planning plan B: Personal or business, never take things for granted. Always have a contingency plan.
  10. Believe in yourself: You are what you think YOU are. Believe that you are a Rock Star even in the catastrophe. I can do is ‘confidence’. ONLY I can do is ‘overconfidence’. Know the difference.

Always remember, if you want to see the rainbow, you have to put up with the rain first. The diamond is precious ONLY after it goes under the blade.

Great action steps, Siva. And as always, Aly and Andrea ROCKED their way through. If I may, I’d like to add a step that has been critical to me in overcoming trials. Don’t worry about the things you cannot control because worrying about those things will not cause them to change. ;-) Thanks for sharing!

Good point Edie. It’s easy and better to face the situation rather than overly worrying about it. We don’t want to be like the pigeon that closes it’s eyes when in fear thinking if it can’t see the problem, the problem can’t see the pigeon (or would go away).

Good points Siva. I needed to read this. I particularly like #6 about planning and planning, as we tend to get stuck in that mode. 2010 brings a great time to act and move forward. I personally appreciate my partnerships, as they give me perspective. Edie, I also appreciate your comment on not worrying about things. Our greatest accomplishments come in adversity. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Siva, I especially liked number 9, having a plan B, as a friend and I who are both planning FREE telesummits (mine is on success) were talking about this just this morning. You’ve raised some great points, which will only increase your readers chances of success. Here’s to more of that!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
